While searching for our “New to Us” motor home, we noticed a lot of people had removed the “chair” that was located behind the passenger seat and in front of the door. This seemed weird, as we were welcoming this “chair”. Why would someone remove it??After we bought the Mirada and started getting some experience with it. I believe we discovered why some people opted to remove the “chair”. It was somewhat non-functional, it was to close to the passenger seat, and the passenger seat was in the way if I wanted to sit in the “chair”. AC switch controls AC compressor regardless of MODE switch
I’m like the way Japanese cars allow you select the A/C system with a separate button, regardless of the heater / AC mode selector switch. (They do not allow me to turn off the AC when in defrost mode, even though I would like to be able to do that)
The Evans controller gave me no options on if I want to run the AC or not. It turned on the AC compressor for several MODEs, including the “VENT” mode. I’m not sure why they do this, as when in the AC mode, the vents are selected, so why did they want to run the AC when VENTS are selected? Water heater bypass valves
Our Coachman Mirada came with factory installed water heater bypass valves. I was not able to fully test the water systems before we bought it as it was in the winter and the water systems had been winterized by the seller.
When we drove south into warmer weather we discovered one of the valves was physically broke and was leaking water faster than we could pump it in. The temporary fix was to just cut the line to the water heater and put a valve in the line. Continue reading “Water heater bypass valves”
Mirada – Ford F53 Transmission flush
Our “New to Us” Mirada had 55,000 miles on it when we bought it and no service records, so we went through it and brought all the preventative maintenance items up to current schedule. One of these items was the Transmission flushing and changing of fluid.
I had performed a “Drain Fill” method of flushing automatic transmissions on my other vehicles and searched the internet to see if there was a similar procedure for the Ford F53, 4R100 transmission. I found the procedure and started gathering the stuff I’d need. Continue reading “Mirada – Ford F53 Transmission flush”
The Search
After months of searching, we finally purchased a “New to Us” RV.
Our first “RV” was a 1988 Toyota Dolphin that we bought specifically to do a bucket list drive up to Alaska. READ HERE. We aptly named the Toyota our “Toyhouse”. 🙂
We owned the Toyhouse for several years and it traveled all around the US and Canada. It served us well and gave us the opportunity to see if an RV would fit our lifestyle. The experience also helped us narrow down what we wanted in an upgrade. Continue reading “The Search”
