I’m not sure if the Mirada headlight assembly is unique to the Mirada or is used on a production vehicle. If someone knows if this is a production assembly send me a PM or leave a comment.
One item of interest for the 2001 Ford F53 chassis is that the DRLs (Daytime running Lights) stay on anytime the ignition switch is in the ON position. Most vehicles I’ve ever seen either have a separate switch or the DRLs are switched on when the transmission is in Drive. In order to turn the DRLs off, I added a “HEADLIGHT” switch that turns power off to the headlight circuit, including the DRLs. (CLICK HERE)
The Headlight assembly plugs directly into the Ford F53 chassis headlight plug.
The DRL uses the same bulb as the Low Beam. When the headlights are OFF, the DRL / Low Beam bulb gets its power through a DRL resistor. This lowers the voltage a little so the bulb is dim (not a lot dimmer than the low beam)
When you turn the headlights ON, the DRL / low Beam bulb gets full 12 volts applied.
When the High beam is selected, it turns off the low beam
On my 2000 Mirada I found a TK number on the parking light I needed. A Google search showed it was from a 1999 F250. $54 from coachmen and Auto zone, $14 on Amazon.
Google any numbers you can find on it. Hope this helps.
I just bought a 2001 Coachman Mirada 300QB. I hope I didn’t make a mistake.
